Imagery
“Juàn” is a plain silk, “wán” a fine white silk. The colour of pale yellow silk — warm, flat, and soft.
Origin
As the turning colour it takes the term’s yellow from the outdoors to the loom. Silk yellows with age into exactly this tone, so the colour names both a fabric and the way time treats it.
