Imagery & Provenance意象与出处

Solar term

秋分 · Autumn Equinox — "漏钟仍夜浅，时节欲秋分。"

Imagery

From the Book of Songs: “jiātăn”, the young reeds and reed-flowers of a marsh, matched as a soft reed-green.

Origin

The poem returns again and again to the reeds that screen a pond, with a person somewhere behind them. As the succeeding colour it brings the equinox palette down from shell to stalk — still pale, but with a real root in water.

System

B Solar-term sets

Source

Yuan Zhen, “Autumn Equinox” — “the water-clock still runs shallow; the season turns.” (succeeding colour of 秋分.)

Citation

元稹《秋分》

Evidence

Ancient-text attestation (attestation > artifact > compilation > approximation)
