Imagery

“Rúlǚ” is madder, the classic red-root dye. A dusty, brownish rose — the term’s darkest.

Origin

Madder is named in the Book of Songs as the dye that gives a red “far redder than the madder plant itself”. As the combining colour it closes Major Heat on a vegetable, earthbound red — the hottest term ending in a colour rooted in soil.
