A name from the potter’s kiln: a copper-red glaze run to the colour of a blush. Also written “beauty’s blush”.

Origin

The name belongs to a celebrated red glaze of the Qing kilns, prized for the way one firing could pass from deep red to a soft flushed pink. As the turning colour it is the term’s pink at its most alive — the colour that made the glaze famous.
